Differences:

Offer letter gives out the terms and conditions that are to be accepted by the candidate to ensure that he has taken the job with full disclosure and self-will. On the other hand, the purpose of the appointment letter comes after the exchange of an offer letter as it transmits much more information about job title and duties.
Appointment letters’ timeline is different from the timeline of offer letters. Offer letters can be accepted or rejected, not appointment letters. The latter is much more detailed than the former one.
